PROJECT DESCRIPTION

99 West is a residential condominium tower in the City Creek development in Downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. At 30 stories, 99 West is currently the tallest residential high-rise in downtown Salt Lake City.

This post-tensioned concrete structure was designed to a performance standard well beyond the prescriptive building code. Working with the project engineers, Magnusson Klemencic Associates, and cladding engineer KPFF, Steel Encounters developed strategies and designs to accommodate massive movements of the structure during a seismic event. Several of the floors can experience displacement of as much as 5” in the floor-to-floor drift.
