PROJECT DESCRIPTION

In 2012 Steel Encounters was contracted to provide design-assist, glazing systems, metal panels, louvers, and doors for Phase 1 of the Adobe campus. The first phase of the project incorporated multiple glazing systems including one of the largest high-span curtain walls ever installed.

Steel Encounters’ custom-designed unitized curtain wall using 10’- 0” wide units at staggered spacing, introduced challenges for the accommodation of seismic and building movements. The system was designed, tested, performs beautifully, and was completed safely and successfully on a condensed schedule.

In 2019, WRNS and Okland Construction began Phase 2 of the Adobe campus. Designed to run adjacent to the original building and blend seamlessly into the campus. With an emphasis on our community’s concern for energy consumption and occupant safety and comfort, Steel Encounters designed and installed a triple-glazed unitized curtain wall system. The enhanced performance provides a more comfortable space both thermally and acoustically; Adobe Ph2 is one of the few buildings in Utah to utilize such a system.
