Salem Health Expansion
Salem Health is constructing a new seven-story, $235 million building expansion. The project will help the hospital care for an aging population that’s expected to use more medical services. In 2015, there were about 90,000 people over the age of 60 in the tri-county area Salem Hospital serves. By 2035, there will be about 130,000 based on population projections.
The new building will be a 150-bed expansion of Building A with its footprint over the current emergency department parking lot. The project also includes some layout modifications to the garage and seismic reinforcements. Construction on the new tower began in January 2020, and the new tower will begin housing patients in the summer of 2022.
Steel Encounters brings a strong history of healthcare, hospitals, and tower projects and is providing steel deck to the project. For more on this project, contact.
