Mountain America Credit Union Headquarters

Project Details

The Mountain America Credit Union Headquarters building is 11-stories, 327,000 square feet, and is able to accommodate up to 1,700 people. Steel Encounters installed more than 109,600 square feet of unitized glass on the Mountain America Credit Union Headquarters Building.

Unique to the project, vertical fins are incorporated into the large span curtain wall in a staggered manner to provide the appearance of movement in the curtain wall, mitigate direct sunlight, and provide a unique look to the curtain wall from every angle. In addition, Steel Encounters worked directly with the structural engineer to allow for additional floor deflections (compensating with curtain wall stack joints) saving the project a net $250 k.

Adjacent to a major interstate, acoustic performance was of critical importance. A system was designed to mitigate acoustical challenges of the location by incorporating an "unbalanced” insulating glass unit system. By incorporating this design, we were able to achieve a higher level of acoustic performance as well as an extremely flat, crisp and elegant look to the glass.

As Utah’s tallest suburban office building, the Mountain America Credit Union Headquarters is the centerpiece of Sandy, Utah’s new development area. The building features floor-to-ceiling glass, upscale finishes, and awe inspiring panoramic views of the Salt Lake Valley.
